He has written several books about baseball history, including Baseball's Creation Myth, The Tecumsehs of the International Association, Pud Galvin, The Detroit Wolverines, The Man Who Made Babe Ruth, and Barney Dreyfuss.
His first book, Buxbaum: A Murderous Affair, was a best-seller published in 1986.
