A native of the Toronto area, Chip developed an intimate knowledge of Southwestern Ontario and its people, past and present, in his four decades at the London Free Press.
He has written true crime books, biographies and several about baseball history, 10 titles in all.
Chip is an avid historian and member of the London and Detroit historical societies. He is a founding member of the Centre for Canadian Baseball Research and member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the Society for American Baseball Research. He has presented widely about his various books, from Cooperstown to Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toronto and elsewhere..
